The Indian government is the richest in the world. There was no survey that proved this. Just a headline in the paper- they’re giving 1.5 crores to Abhinav Bindra, the ace shooter who sure has done us proud and more so realized his dreams and the end result of all his endeavours. It’s a miracle- not the individual achievement herein concerned, but the capacity of India to embrace everything it can. Any little to major glory any Indian achieves- India, the Indian government more so, makes no delay in sponging some of it of that person. This is not about belittling any glory but about the fact that how can we call our own we had no role to play in.
Khair about the role some other time. This time it’s about the ever-growing riches. So, I was saying, they’re so rich that they dish out money to every athlete who wins, to every family who loses a son, to all the families of the victims of any disasters, etc, etc. fair at the face of it, some for felicitation and some for support. But are any of these two aims really achieved. When it’s the support area- often we hear that the concerned didn’t get what was promised to them, besides how much does a one time huge amount of sum meet the intention of support. Wouldn’t it be a much more fruitful endeavour to give the children support with their education and some relief for a period of time with taxes or some monthly support with the household requirements… something like that. Well, the second motive is even more laughable. We give money to people like abhinav bindra whose dad’s gifting him a 200 crore hotel, who already has the money to posess his personal shooting range, and who probably is not going to run short of money for this lifetime at least. And its not just the central govt or the Punjab govt giving him money, but a lot of other state govts too. What can I say? …
